| Title | J G Barnes to "Madam" (draft): I write at the request of Mrs Corbett regarding an affair which has deprived her of a great part of her property; after Mr Rowley's death she thought it right that her husband should possess the property absolutely and a fine and deed to declare the uses was passed, to that if he left no will, it would pass to his heirs at law; although Mr Corbett's will left all his real and personal estate to his wife, it was made 4 years before Rowley's death and could not affect the estate; counsel's opinion is that she has lost the estate and is entitled to dower; I have written to the heirs at law to claim dower; she does not wish to go to law as her income is small; she would be obliged if Mr Wilson will pay her the arrears due at Lady Day. |
