Administrative History
The Hall family were noted attorneys in the Castleton area during the 18th and 19th centuries and at least one of them, Micah, acted as agent for the Duke of Devonshire. Their practice included the handling of a large amount of lead mining business. These papers were purchased by Benjamin Bagshawe at the end of the 19th century, probably for antiquarian reasons.
