| Administrative History | After the death of the last male heir to the Morewood family's Alfreton Hall estate, George Morewood, in 1792, the estate passed to his widow Ellen. The following year, she married the Revd Henry Case, who changed his name to Morewood. On the death, without issue, of Henry Case Morewood in 1825, the estate became the property of the Palmers of Ladbroke, Warwickshire, who took the name Palmer-Morewood. |
