Archive CreatorPastures Hospital, formerly Derby County Mental Hospital and Derby County Lunatic Asylum
Administrative HistoryThe hospital opened in 1851 in Mickleover as the Derby County Lunatic Asylum, taking pauper and private patients. It was renamed the Derby County Mental Hospital in 1918, and became Pastures Hospital in the 1948, when it transferred to the National Health Service. It closed in 1993 as part of the reorganisation of mental health care.
