Entries on pp1-2 are undated.
The earliest date shown, on p3, is 1903. The register is laid out to record the following information: child's name and sex; cause of the child's being maintained by the guardians; details of the resolution bringing the child under their control including child's age at the time; date at which the child will be 18 years old; religious creed; where maintained and, if boarded-out, with whom and date; subsequent notes; name and address of parents if known. However, only the later entries actually record the date of the 18th birthday, creed or parental address.
The youngest child in the register is recorded as entering at the age of 4 months in November 1961.
