Administrative History | Chesterfield Cylinders was established in 1897. In 1906 Joe Trevorrow, Chesterfield director, produced the first drawings for the manufacture of seamless cylinders from hot pierced billet. In so doing, he revolutionised the thinking on the manufacture of cylinders, and ensured that the company would remain successful to the present day.
The company has operated under various names since then, changing its name to Chesterfield Cylinders in the late twentieth century. They make gas cylinders, steel tubes, forgings, and a number of other steel products. Their success is supported by the fact that they have received approvals to manufacture from regulatory authorities worldwide. It currently has an annual turnover of more than £5 million.
In the summer of 2005 the decision was taken to relocate Chesterfield Cylinders to Sheffield, thus ending a century-long association with its site at Derby Road in Chesterfield. |
