Administrative History
The magistrates court was responsible for matters relating to licensed premises. These architect's drawings for alterations or new buildings were presented to Chesterfield Magistrates Court.
Custodial History
These records were originally part of the records of Chesterfield Magistrates Court. It is not known why or when they left official custody. They were given by a private individual to a former magistrate who gave them to Chesterfield Museum (former reference CHTFM 3996) for transfer to an appropriate repository. The records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office in November 2003.
