Administrative History | Hardwick Junior School was originally Pear Tree School, and opened in 1874, admitting infants and juniors. On moving to new premises in 1880, the school was renamed St. James Road Boys School. A separate school opened on St. James Road in 1881, admitting both sexes. However, after about 1891, boys only were admitted to the former school and girls to the latter. They finally became Hardwick Junior School, retaining the separate girls and boys sections. |
