Title
Draft instructions to Messrs Coln & Mills of Chesterfield to inspect and report on Holme Hall Chert Mine. gives much details of the mine's problems: flooded as a result of years of high rainfall; pumping is uneconomic; the chert in the Duke's Holme Bank Mine is higher and therefore not flooded, hence Smith prefers to work that but wishes to renew his lease of the Holme Hall chert so as to maintain his monopoly.
