Administrative History | The Haven Christian Centre is a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) providing a place of worship for the Heatherton Village housing development in Littleover. It was established in 1993 as a partnership between the Anglican, Methodist and Baptist churches in the area and was formally inaugurated as a LEP in November 1996. The United Reformed Church was admitted to the partnership in 1998.
The centre initially made use of school premises for meetings and services. By 1996 a scheme was being considered with Derby City Council for use of new premises combining a church and community centre. This proposal was abandoned and by 1999 the centre was engaged in building its own church on Hollybrook Way in Heatherton Village.
For Methodist purposes, the centre forms part of the Derby South Circuit. |
