Administrative History	Desmond Thornhill began his architect practice in 1959. He worked on projects in and around the Matlock area. In his work he undertook both residential and commercial projects, together with jobs for local authorities. He was later to undertake jobs further afield, including some outside Derbyshire. The firm was bought out by a company in Sheffield in 1989. Mr. Thornhill subsequently retired from the profession.
Custodial History	These records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in March 2000.
