Administrative History | The Great Northern Railway (GNR) was incorporated in 1846 with the object of building a line from London to York. The headquarters of the railway were at Kings Cross, London. Following the Railways Act of 1921, the company was succeeded in 1923 by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). |
