Administrative History
A bleaching company was established by Edward Hall at Whaley Bridge in 1830. By 1908 Edward Hall and Brother had become a part of the Bleachers’ Association Ltd which in turn became a part of Whitecroft Industrial Holdings Ltd by 1964. The plant closed in 1999. This collection relates mainly to the Botany Works in Whaley Bridge but also includes an inventory of the Hollingworth Bleach Works of the River Etherow Bleaching Co Ltd, and some records relating to the Bleachers’ Association Ltd.
