Description
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A Survey of the River Derwent in the County of Derby together with the intended Cutts for making the same Navigable by Geo. Sorocold Gent. [c1700] Surveyor: George Sorocold.Scale: of 200 yards [1:19200] Size: 65 x 23 cm. Materials: ink on paper, conserved under plastic sheet. Centred on: SK3636 Notes: compass rose, SSW at top of sheet. Shows R. Derwent from R. Trent to Derby with intended new cuts: streets in Derby, settlements in proximity to river, mills. Wiln Ford and ferry. Location: DRO D369/Maps 13
