Title
High Peak Petty Sessional Division and predecessors
Date
1834-1979
Description
Records of High Peak Petty Sessional Division and its predecessors including High Peak (later Chapel en le Frith) and Buxton Petty Sessional Divisions and Glossop Borough Court 1834-1979.
Originally the High Peak Division included both Buxton and Glossop, but Glossop became a Borough with its own court in 1866 (and may already have separated out from the High Peak Division) and Buxton became the head of a separate Petty Sessional division in 1880. Buxton and Chapel en le Frith Divisions combined to form a Division coterminous with the High Peak District Council area (but excluding Glossop) in 1974.
