John Sims to Lady FitzHerbert: recommends for her daughter's blisters a poultice of bread and milk "made very smooth", with a little laudanum and goulard added; failing this, the sores may be dabbed with muslin and ceruss powder; if there is a great discharge, "nothing answers so well as giving bark in substance". 8 June
