| Description | Date of birth: 24/12/1907 Marital status: Married Address: Cotton Mill, Langwith, Mansfield Type of injury: Injuries - back, ribs and chest Description of accident: Partly buried by fall of dirt when working on lip and it caved in Further information: Hospital doctor's letter of January 1950 submitted to Board reported Walker developed symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus in the weeks following the accident and from January 1950 was prescribed insulin. This was recorded in the Tribunal's evidence but apparently no consideration given as to whether the shock of the accident may have contributed to the onset of the illness. Letter from Walker, dated 9 September 1950 : 'I have not been able to follow my own occupation as a miner since but have a light job at the Central Ordnance Depot Boughton'. |
