Further information: An Opthalmic Surgeon's report is included as well as a letter received 16 June 1954 from the claimant's wife to Mr Kitts asking if the payment could be made as a lump sum, as 'things have been rather hard for us.' A reply explains that a lump sum is only paid under a 20 per cent assessment. A further letter dated 24 June 1954 from the claimant's wife states 'I am worried, and carnt understand these things.'
