His loss of faculty was finally settled at 10 per cent disablement for life. The first Local Appeal set for 15 July 1958 was adjourned for checks with the Colliery with regard to earnings capacity when overtime as 'key man' in the previous occupation was taken into account; the NUM representative who attended (Cyril Stone) wrote 'Mr Priest did sign to agree for his case next time to be heard by a different Tribunal'.Miss Lee was the named Insurance Officer at both hearings. The success of the appeal raised the weekly Special Hardship Allowance paid from 26s to 34s for the period in question. |
