Formerly at Boythorpe Colliery working as a coalcutter when an accident happened causing an electrical shock and burns to a hand and wrist in 1949 and this was the basis of the claim for SHA after a 50 per cent disability for life had been awarded in October 1951. Pre accident earnuings were disputed by NUM representative. A further accident had occurred in 1950 causing grazed skin which was followed up by a medical report of February 1951 which states a diagnosis of psoriasis, 'Psoriasisis we believe, is due to an inherited tendancy but [...] may not show itself until the skin is damaged by a trivial abrasion such as occurred in the present instance'. |
