Further information: Mr Howard has been a miner for 39 years, 20 years on the face. Mr Howard had an accident on 23 April 1952 whilst working as a filler, when he fell as he was walking to his place of work. He claimed industrial injury benefit from 23 April 1952 to 4 June 1952 after which his disability was assessed at 20 per cent for the period 5 June 1952 to 4 December 1952. This is a complicated case for which there is a lot of paperwork and a lot of background information about the accident, wages and work roles.
