He went back to work on 1 September 1954 as a packer and continued doing that until 17 May 1955 when he became incapable of work. It is noted on the summary of facts on the Appeal reference dated 27 March 1956 that 'The claimant is at present on light work and the average loss of earnings compared with the pre-accident earnings exceeds 27s 6d weekly.' Mr Henstock mentions in his grounds for appeal that 'it is very doubtful as to whether I shall ever be able to follow my regular employment as a coal face packer again.' Description of work 'Drawing away wooden roof supports by means of sylvester and building stone roof supports. Heavy manual work in confined spaces underground. Heavy lifting, hammering, shovelling etc.' The tribunal date was set for 12 April 1956; there is a handwritten note on the notification of the date that says 'Against.' |
