Further information: Danesmoor Colliery. Old occupation: Coal face borer - Heavy manual work involving the boring of holes with heavy boring machine, for the firing of shots into the face and the trailing of cable for the supply of electric power'. Colliery surface worker: 'job entails the picking of loose pieces of hind from out of the coal, as it passes along on the belts or screens.' Mr Hudson was a coal-face borer up until 30/5/1952 when he injured his left eye. He resumed employment on 15/9/1952 and since 12/01/1953 was employed as a gate conveyor man. the grounds of his appeal was that he was incapable of following his regular employment - a final decision was given against Mr Hudson on 17/09/1953.
