Further information: Mr Heeley's letter of appeal was acknowledged on 12th February 1953, which also informs him that an earnings comparison enquiry has been sent to his employers. He estimates his average weekly earnings as £7 18s 0d. He was diagnosed with Beat knee on 7th May 1952 and had been working as a Ripper for 30 years. His estimated earnings were £12 per week in that role. Old occupation: coal miner (ripper)- 'ripping down stone to a height of 12 feet, which necessitated working on scaffolds, using pick, hammer, ringer and shovels.' Mr Heeley notified tribunal he would not attend.
