Local Appeal Tribunal case file for Violet Weston, aged 54
Date
1963
Description
Date of birth:
Marital status: Widowed
Address: Not given, Not given
Type of benefit claimed: *
Type of injury: Not applicable
Further information: The appeal was for Industrial Death Benefit on behalf of Thomas Wood Weston who died aged 60 years on 10 September 1962; the post mortem showed that pneumoconiosis was present but the post mortem had stated death was due to 'natural causes' (myocardial infarction). His brother-in-law G Hodgkinson of 1 Buxton Avenue, Marlpool, wrote in to the NUM to ascertain what action could be taken and was advised it was too late in relation to a claim for Industrial Death Benefit but that Industrial Widows benefit could be applied for. Weston had been in receipt of a 40 per cent disablement assessment for pneumoconiosis.
