He died aged 62 on 27 November 1962 and the death certificate gave the cause of death as: Congestive cardiac failure; Calcific aortic stenosis; Simple miners pneumoconiosis. The Pneumoconiosis Medical Board stated: 'we cannot accept that because pneumoconiosis was present therefore it must have had a hastening effect on death'. |
