Title
Local Appeal Tribunal case file for Norman Hartley, aged 59, Dirt hand at Markham Main
Date
1960
Description
Date of birth:
Marital status: Married
Address: 62 Longlands, Bolsover
Type of benefit claimed: Special Hardship Allowance
Type of injury: Injury - back
Further information: The accident was in January 1952 since when Hartley had received disablement benefit with the latest award 10 per cent for life. In Hartley's post-accident jobs all were paid at a lower rate than a dirt hand until the latest job of 'assisting platelayer' wccih was paid at exactly the same rate of £8 17s 6d. An overpayment of benefit had therefore been made but repayment was not required as this had been the Insurance Officer's decision and Hartley was found to have acted in good faith.
