Further information: There is some discussion as to whether the accident was an industrial accident. There is a handwritten letter of appeal dated 27 December 1951 from the claimant which states 'I have not seen a doctor other than my own who will persist in putting both Dermatitis and Epidermophytosis on the same certificate with a question mark at the side of the last named.' It is stated that the claimant is a frequent user of the pithead baths. There is no record of the tribunal's final decision.
