Administrative History | The company was founded in 1868 in City Road, Derby, by Alfred Seale Haslam (later Sir). It specialised in hydraulic machinery, being particularly concerned with refrigeration. It occupied the Union Foundry Works in Derby. In 1892 it incorporated Pontifex and Wood Ltd; of Shoe Lane, London. In 1928 the electrical engineering firm, Newton Brothers Ltd, took over Haslams, changing the name to Newton Brothers (Derby) Ltd., in 1935. |
