Administrative History | Local boards of health were first set up in 1848 to administer services which related to public health in populated areas not covered by borough councils. Under the Public Health Act 1872 local boards of health were designated urban sanitary authorities, and in 1894 these authorities became urban district councils under the Local Government Act of that year. By Local Government Board Order No 39,199 of 1 April 1899 the parish of Codnor and Loscoe was attached to the Heanor Urban District. |
