Aslin; Charles Herbert (1893-1959); Derby borough architect from 1929, responsible for the Central Improvement Plan. Designed the original 1933 Bus Station, Police Station/Magistrates' Courts, Council House, Riverside Gardens, Exeter Bridge, Exeter Place Apartments and the former Covered Market.
Bakewell; Robert (1682-1752); Artist in wrought iron. Created the 'Birdcage' arbour at Melbourne Hall, and the wrought iron screen and the gates at the west door, Derby Cathedral. There are also wrought iron gates by Bakewell at the Derby Industrial Museum, and ironwork by him in Alvaston, Ashbourne, Borrowash, Duffield, Etwall, Foremark, Radbourne and Staunton Harold.
