Description of accident: Using sylvester to withdraw arch girder, the chain broke allowing handle to fly back and hit chest
Further information: From physician's report to Medical Board: 'I think this man's shortness of breath is due to emphysema […] it often seems that a chest injury precipitates symptoms'. From hospital report February 1955: 'On examination he was puffing and bllowing ostentatiously and apparently unnecessariily [...] his dyspnoea seemed out of proportion to both the clinical and the radiological findings. There appeared to be some functional overlay which may be connected with the question of compensation'.
