Description | Matlock Institute was erected by Ernest Bailey in 1897, having reading and billiard rooms, a gymnasium, and a hall seating 300. It was later used by the Church Army as a social centre. The rules are stipulated by the committee which comprises of the Rev. J.W. Kewley, Rev. E. Adams, E.H. Bailey, J. Sladen, C. Housley, C. Crowder, F. Adams, F.Porter and J. Holgate. |
