1 - Joan Morton’s charity. Joan Morton, by her will of 1611 left part of her property to be used for the benefit of the poor of Hathersage. The property was sold and used, eventually, to buy a house and land at Aston,whose yearly rents were to be distributed among the poor of Hathersage, the house itself being used as a hospital. - 1611-1961
