- the burning of Joane Waste, a Protestant Martyr, Aug 1556 (at front)
- plague visitations including between October 1592 and November 1593
- burial of "George Hillman King Charlls [Charles I] his baker whoe Came w[i]th his ma[jes]tie one [sic] his progresse to this towne and dyed [?]heaur of a spotted fever & was buried the fiftienth day" August 1636
- burial of Bess of Hardwick, 16 February 1607/8
- Derby being made a "major towne", 1638 - may actually mean "mayor" town as the memorandum refers to the appointment of a mayor under a new charter
- rebellion in Ireland, Oct 1641
- seige of Lichfield Close and the battle of Stafford, Mar-Apr 1642
- burial of the hospital warden, Apr 1645
- appointment of parish "register", 1653
- list of poor persons in the Countess of Shrewsbury's Alms Houses who died with the names of their replacements, pre 1604-1709

Some of the baptism entries in the mid-17th century also include the occupation of the father.
