Administrative History | Ashbourne Methodist Circuit and its predecessors, the Ashbourne Wesleyan and Ashbourne Primitive Methodist circuits.
The Primitive Methodist Circuit was based on the Church in Station Street (ref: D4084) and included churches at Kniveton, Hognaston, Kirk Ireton, Hollington, Hulland, Brailsford, Biggin, Milldale and Tissington.
The Wesleyan Methodist Circuit was based on the Church at Ashbourne (ref: D4083) and included, at various dates, churches at Mayfield, Brailsford, Wardgate, Hulland, Rodsley, Osmaston, Wyaston, Fenny Bentley, Mappleton, Shirley and Parwich.
The Ashbourne Methodist Circuit was formed in the 1930s after the unification of the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist Churches in 1932. The two circuits continued briefly as the Ashbourne and Station Street Circuits respectively until they amalgamated in 1934. |
