The head office of Derby Savings Bank was opened on 2 February 1818, in the Grand Jury Room of the Old Town Hall. In 1828 the Savings Bank transferred to the New Assembly Rooms at the corner of Full Street and Market Place. A new building was opened in Friargate on 23 November 1840. A number of branches were opened, including Ashbourne, Allenton, Ripley, Bakewell and Normanton Road. By the mid 1930s the bank was known as the Derby Trustee Savings Bank. The Bank was later taken over by the Trustee Savings Bank (TSB).
