Person Gladwin; Major-General; Henry (c1729-1791); British army officer DS/UK/4558 Gladwin Henry Major-General c1729-1791 British army officer Male Wingerworth Henry was the eldest son of Henry Gladwin (1692-1763) of Stubbing Court, Wingerworth, and his second wife, Mary Digby Dakeyne. In 1762, he married Frances Beridge (1741-1817) which whom he had ten surviving children. He served in the British army in North America, and was the British commander at the Siege of Fort Detroit during Pontiac's War of 1763-1766. He died at Stubbing Court in 1791.
