In 1718, Treby was appointed Secretary at War. In 1724 the prime minister, Sir Robert Walpole, appointed Henry Pelham Secretary of War and Treby became Teller of the Exchequer until 1727.  He was became Master of the Household 1730-1740; in 1740 he became a Lord of the Treasury.</Activity>
