Located in Sheepbridge Works Yard.

The colliery was located within the Sheepbridge Works Yard but worked by the Derbyshire Silkstone Colliery Company under a lease given to them by the Sheepbridge Coal and Iron Company. It was sunk between 1857 and 1858. It worked the Deep Hard, Piper, Tupton, Silkstone and Sitwell coal seams. The type of coal produced was used for gas and coking. In 1888, there was a short strike in demand of better wages. A similar strike lasting 24 days occurred in 1893. During this strike, the Sheepridge Company had ceased pumping water, and so the colliery had become flooded. This was sorted out quickly and the men returned to work. The mine suffered from water problems, which was why a second shaft was used solely for pumping.The services onsite included a washery and screens.
