Emily married Alfred Tennyson on 13 June 1850 at Shiplake near Reading, Berkshire; they had two children, Hallam (1852-1928) and Lionel (born 1854). She became the secretary and manager of her husband Alfred Tennyson after their marriage. She was also the sister of Anne (1814-1896), later married to Charles Weld, and Louisa (1816-1879), later married to Charles Tennyson, brother of the poet Alfred.
