He joined the BBC as head of Adult Education in 1927 and became the first editor of The Listener magazine 1928. He resigned from the BBC in 1939 and went to Canada, where he joined CBC Radio as educational advisor in 1940. He served as Supevisor of School Broadcasts, 1943-1959 and retired in 1963.
