  <dc:title>Crop Returns</dc:title>
<dc:description>A scarcity of corn in 1795 prompted the Privy Council to urge a more frugal use of bread in workhouses, hospitals and public charities, substituting other foods, in a circular letter addressed to the Lord Lieutenant, 20 July 1795. This was followed by a further circular desiring the Lord Lieutenant to call a meeting of magistrates to organise an "Account" of the produce of the "late" crop of grains and comparison with the produce of a "fair" crop and with the 1794 crop, 28 October 1795</dc:description>
