  <dc:title>Licensed Victuallers (alehouse and innkeepers)</dc:title>
<dc:description>The Registers of licensed victuallers record recognisances entered into by persons granted licences for keeping alehouses, inns and victualling houses by justices at their meetings for this purpose in the respective hundreds of the County for which they acted and which have been returned to the Clerk of the Peace.

The lists give the name of the victualler and place with, until 1778, names of sureties and amount of surety. Though they list the innkeepers and alehouse keepers throughout the county for a substantial period, they do not give the name of the inn itself.</dc:description>
