Letter from Catherine Cracroft to her cousin Eleanor Isabella Gell, including reference to the return of William Penny's expedition She encloses a scrap with the letter being sent by her mother. She feels it would be best for Eleanor to return her crochet collar, as there appears small chance of her disposing of it. They are sorry Eleanor is far from being strong and think she should see a new doctor; why not Dr Gull, now seemingly a family physician, a skilful man in his profession, having been working with Mr Phillott. Little Eleanor must be a little pet and companion for Eleanor now and asks whether she says many words. It is another trying season of uncertainty and suspense: Penny's return has been a blow and most unexpected; it seems "mystery upon mystery", when the right track seems to have been found: she hopes the Admiralty will give Penny the steamer to return: it is now or never, making reference to St Paul's words "Patient in tribulation".
