The volume contains his bookplate. The cuttings are of particular interest for the evidence they provide of the activities in the later 19th century of local bodies such as the Parish Council and the Parochial Church Council, as well as larger district councils. Comments on Earl Cowper as an absentee landlord also reflect local opinion.
