Despatch by Sir James Brooke, C. B., Commissioner, from Singapore, to Captain Barker, R. N., H.M.S. Amazon, advising postponement of Mr. St. John’s visit to Sulu to ratify the Treaty in view of the likelihood of Spanish action against Sulu following the aggression of the Sulu government on a Spanish force, but recommending the despatch of a vessel there to prevent any claim being set up to the Eastern coasts by the Spanish. 3 Feb 1851
