  <dc:title>1795 November 17: William Barker from Smyrna to Messrs Thomas and John Barker, Bakewell: requests that balance of £300, promised by their late father for William’s wife and children, he paid with interest; in 1780 William sold to their father a half share in a little estate in Lincs. And a debt of the Marquis of Granby for £400, and was to receive a further sum if the debt was paid; the £200 was promised to his wife in satisfaction of this, and he is also entitled to interest from the time when the debt was paid: his daughter Grace has gone to Salonica with her husband, and his son James is also on the Nemesis, rated as a midshipman.
