Having had a good education, Peter left his father's business at Dove Holes Meadows Farm to be a clerk for Hall's solicitors in Castleton. It was here that he met Sarah Chapman Bagshaw, and they were married at Hope in 1851. Peter Kirk died in 1889.</dc:description>
