  <dc:description>Old alignment of the CHPR at Hurdlow, North West of the incline from the Earl Sterndale-Sparklow road looking South East from the lane towards Cronkston Low.  This section was abandoned on the 2nd January 1869 when the Hurdlow Deviation was opened replacing the 1:16 gradient with a 1:60 gradient that could be loco hauled.  The original alignment was subsequently sold to the Duke of Devonshire.</dc:description>
